Marie + Mike = Married!

Marie and Mike’s wedding at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica was one of those days where I had a warm, fuzzy feeling just being a part of it. I hadn’t known Marie and Mike for very long (they only booked me about  month before their wedding), but I already felt like I knew them so well. They are both incredibly warm and open people, it’s impossible for them to not feel like old friends the moment you meet them.

I’ve already talked about their love story here, and I felt so lucky to witness the next chapter on their wedding day. There were only 30 guests in attendance so it was a relaxed and emotional day with a heartfelt ceremony that had tears streaming down my face the entire time. When Mike read vows to Marie’s daughter, promising to love her as his own, I just about died.

Life is beautiful, you know?

Erin + Matt = Married!

At this point, Erin and Matt are like family to me. After I shot and became friends with Matt’s sister, Alexis, I’ve been lucky enough to shoot several important events and fun portrait sessions thanks to this family.

I first met Erin and Matt at Alex and Mitch’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion wedding and I remember Erin had a big smile and a bubbly personality. When I heard Erin and Matt got engaged and Erin wanted me to photograph the wedding I was more than honored. I don’t take such a task lightly, ever – but when I am repatedly invited back to capture important moments for the same family, it’s just … a blessing.

Together, Erin and Matt just make sense. They’re high school sweethearts and it’s amazing to think about what that means: two people evolving and growing and changing, together. They clearly found the right one in each other, and it’s a beautiful thing to witness.

Thank you, Erin and Matt. For inviting me to document your beautiful day, and for making me feel so welcomed as a friend and officail family photorapher.;)

Here are just a few of my favorites!

Lori Weiss - Hi Heidi,

To second Erin’s appreciation, you really are so easy and comfortable to work with. Your pictures are spectacular. Thanks so much for doing such an amazing job capturing this wonderful day in our lives.

–Lori (a.k.a. Erin’s mom)

Erin Rochlin - Thank you, Heidi, for doing such an amazing job photographing our wedding. We have the best memories and, thanks to you, we can look back on them anytime we want. You were so easy to work with and we really appreciate all your hard work. Can’t wait to see you at the next big Rochlin family event.

Marie + Mike = Engaged!

Marie and Mike are an incredibly special couple, and I knew it before I had even seen the two of them together. I had first met with Marie by herself, to talk about their wedding. When she told me their love story, I was floored and had to wipe away tears because it was so romantic and magical, and like something straight out of a movie.

Marie and Mike met TWENTY years ago at a work function (they’re both lawyers) and hit it off right away. They’ve been best friends ever since. Their friendship saw each other through other relationships, and even through the birth of Marie’s daughter. Mike has lived in the Bay Area all these years, but they remained close. About a year ago, Mike realized that he loved Marie as more than a friend, and when he opened up to her about it, he found that she felt the same way. Not wanting to waste another minute apart, Mike relocated to Los Angeles and proposed to Marie right away. Normally, that would be considered a whirlwind romance, but these two know one another better than anyone else on the planet, so as Marie put it to me the day we met, “Why what?”

I finally got to meet Mike in person on the day of their engagement session and it warmed my heart to see these two together. They just make sense. Their wedding happened not long after this session and I’ll be sharing it soon. Seeing them together, it was quickly clear to me what was also obvious to all of their friends and family all of these years: these two belong together.

Congratulations, Mike and Marie! Thank you for letting me document this amazing time in your lives.
