Jennifer + Sebastian = Married!

Most of the time, the weddings I shoot are the kind that most people expect when they think of weddings – over 100 of the couples’ friends and family, lots going on, more people to see than there is time to talk to them all – you know, a wedding! Every once in a while, though, I’ll meet with a couple who is having a small wedding, truly only immediate family and maybe a friend or two. Jennifer and Sebastian were one of those couples. They were having their wedding on a Wednesday afternoon and there would be no more than 15 people in attendance. I think that’s pretty great! Jennifer and Sebastian got spend lots of time with each guest and the whole day had a sweetness to it that is hard to achieve with groups of 100 plus.

Their ceremony was short but meaningful and we had lots of time afterwards to explore the grounds of the Los Angeles Arboretum and take some lovely portraits in some really beautiful light. Afterwards, we met back up with the rest of the group at Jennifer’s parents’ house for some toasts, food, champagne and cake. It was a perfect wedding day and I’m so glad Jennifer and Sebastian invited me to capture it! Here are a few of my favorites…

Sharon - Obviously I agree the LA arboretum is a perfect picture spot. Lovely photos!

Melanie + James = Engaged!

This particular engagement session is very special for me because Melanie and James are two very close friends of mine. I knew them both before they were a couple. They started out as best friends and that friendship developed into something more, and we all couldn’t be happier about it! These two are getting married next year in their home state of Georgia, and while I requested to NOT be their wedding photographer (I prefer to party and celebrate at close friends’ weddings), I was excited when they asked me to shoot their engagement session. I love these two, so of course I wanted to get them in front of my camera!

Melanie is a casting director and works on the Warner Bros. lot, and James is a film editor. So, it was only fitting that we shoot their session at the fun backdrops that the Warner Bros. lot provides. It was so nice to shoot in city streets without having to shoot around other people!;)If I had my druthers I’d do all my engagement shoots in such a location!

James and Melanie, we love you guys so much! We are so thrilled you two are getting married and we can’t wait to celebrate!

Printcopia Canvas Print Giveaway | Heidi Ryder Photography: The Blog - [...] Printcopia was kind enough to send me my own canvas to check out the quality, which was perfect timing because we recently moved and my new office needs pretty things for its bare walls. I decided on one of my favorite shots from Melanie and James’ WB lot engagement session. [...]

Tracy - Stunning! I was wondering why the streets were so empty, it was bewildering!

Courtney Brandt - Of course – I love every moment of this shoot! And what fond memories I have of the the lot. Can’t wait to show you and Chris around Athens next year. :)

Megan Welker - Heidi. Dang. These are beautiful! Wouldn’t it be a dream to shoot there every time you needed a city feel?! Swoon!

Jessica - Wow, this is awesome!!!!! Love the shots, Heidi. So them. Congrats Melanie and James!

Giovanna + Javier = Married!

I’m finally back to blogging, and kicking things off big with Giovanna and Javier’s gorgeous San Juan Capistrano Mission and private orange grove wedding. When I first met with these two, Giovanna told me about her family’s orange grove, and how their reception would take place in a giant tent, surrounded by hundreds of orange trees, and I was already so excited to be a part of this day.

The reality of the day did not disappoint and Giovanna and Javier put together such a beautiful fête. The entire day was filled with such gorgeousness, I am just so excited to share. So, I’ll let the photos do the talking and get to work on prepping some more posts so I won’t be gone for so long again.:)
