Missy and I go back, way back. Before I was a professional photographer and was still forcing my friends in front of my camera (because my passion was strong but my courage was non-existent, and so I hadn’t yet tried to convince people to pay me to take their photo), Missy and I were co-workers. It seems like a lifetime ago, and in lots of ways it was. I moved on to start my own business and get married, and Missy went back to school to get her Master’s in Journalism and now works at WIRED Magazine. Which is where she met John.
Missy and John spent months working in the same office and hardly said two words to one another. But once John finally got the courage to ask her out for drinks after work, it was clear there was something special brewing. Knowing that this was right, these two began planning their life together right away. I can tell how happy Missy is and I know it’s due in no small part to having John in her life. I love my friends and want nothing more than for them to be happy, so spending a Saturday in San Francisco and seeing these two together was a special treat for me.
We had some specific plans on where we would shoot, but the San Francisco weather was not at all cooperative. There was wind. Crazy wind. Cold wind. And then there was fog. Lots of fog. But Missy and John kept their happy hats on and I think we accomplished what we set out to do.
Missy and John, thanks for asking me to come up to make some beautiful photos of the two of you. It was such an honor and I hope they bring you both lots of joy. :)
