The Ray Family Portraits

I know I’ve said this before, but I’ll just take the risk at sounding like a broken record and say it one more time: I love my job! Watching my clients grow together as a couple, and then eventually as a family is one of the most rewarding things I’ve experienced. I had absolutely nothing to do with it, other than documenting momentous occasions, but when I get to meet the first born child of a couple whose wedding I photographed, I can’t help but feel like a part of the family in a small way. ;)

Jennifer and David were married almost two years ago and a couple of weeks ago I finally got to meet the newest addition to their family, Davey, who just turned 1! Jen and Dave thought it was high time they had some family photos taken, and I was super excited to meet this little guy. Lil’ David started walking when he was just nine months old, so it was fitting that we let him run around a park so that he could be photographed in his element. At some point during the shoot Jen asked me which was harder, shooting a wedding or shooting a one year old. I turned to her and said, “Well, brides never run away from me when I’m trying to take their photo, so I’m gonna have to say weddings are easier!” ;)

I had so much fun following Davey around, and I’m so happy for this little family!

  • Jessica Gardner - What a cutie pie! These are great. Love the swing idea with the parents in the background!

  • Jessica Forsythe - That’s a seriously cute baby!

  • Jennifer Ray - Hey! You did you forget you shot our engagement too!

  • Cherie McMullen - Love your pictures Heidi! Would you consider photographing a 3 year and twins in a couple of months??!!

  • Heidi Ryder - Jennifer of course i didn’t forget! we almost got ourselves kicked out of olvera street!

Cherie that sounds like it would be a blast – better start training for all the running i’d probalby have to do. ;)

  • Megan Welker - That shot of him upside down on the ground needs to be a canvas STAT! So good!!
