I don’t even know where to begin with Alexis and Mitch’s wedding day story. From beginning to end it was simply a glorious day. When we arrived at the Omni Hotel to capture the getting ready portion of the day, the excitement in the air was palpable. Alexis was surrounded by the important ladies in her and Mitch’s life as they all got their hair and makeup done by the amazing Kelly Zhang team, and Mitch and the guys were a few floors down suiting up in their awesome classic tuxedos.
The plan for the day was to walk from the Omni to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, before arriving at the wedding venue and our final destination, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. It was supposed to rain that day, but what we got instead was a beautiful cloudy sky which gave us the most amazing light to shoot in. And not a single drop of rain until I was on my way home that evening! Perfect.
Alexis and Mitch made my job easy for many reasons: One, they chose to do a First Look so that we would have plenty of time for portraits and romantics before the ceremony. Two, they worked almost two full hours for portraits into the timeline of the day. And three, they are so madly in love with each other, which made for some of the most amazing moments ever. I am a big fan of these two, and a lot of it has to do with the way they both seem to glow when they’re together. It’s a beautiful thing.
Now, let’s get down to it…
Alexis had the most amazing pair of shoes. They are like crystal chandeliers for the feet and I love them.
The next shot is probably my favorite moment from a First Look. Ever. Sometimes, couples are worried that seeing each other before the ceremony won’t be an emotional experience. This photo is going to be my answer to that worry from now on…
Kerim from My Wedding Blooms did all of the gorgeous florals. Kerim was my wedding florist, too! Alexis and Mitch were in great hands. And by the way, I could not get over how amazing Alexis looked in her Priscilla of Boston gown. I mean, wow. Seriously.
I really love that Mitch wore a classic black tux with a bow tie. He looked quite dashing.
This next series brings a smile to my face. I love the little jump of joy Mitch does at the end. He’s so pleased with himself for smashing that glass!
Loved all the colorful details of this wedding, especially the awesome Rugby-themed groom’s cake that Alexis surprised Mitch with, made by Emily’s Custom Bakeshop. Patina Restaurant Group, one of my favorites, catered the event.
Jason of Elegant Event Entertainment made sure the reception ran without a hitch. Jason was also my wedding DJ. I told you these two were in good hands!
Another favorite part of the day was sneaking away from the reception for a few minutes to take some night shots in the courtyard of the Dorothy Chandler. This was Alexis and Mitch’s idea and it’s just another reason I adore them.
