Whenever I meet a couple for the first time, I like to find out how they met, how long they’ve been engaged, how the proposal happened – you know, all the fun stuff! When I first met Mandy and Dustin, I learned that they’ve been together for 10 years, and that Dustin proposed to Mandy during a trip to Catalina. I immediately squealed because I’ve never been to Catalina and I’ve been wanting to go for years. Years! And, with that squeal, the idea of shooting Mandy and Dustin’s engagement session in Avalon on Catalina Island was born.
The boat ride over to Avalon was awesome because I got to sit next to Mandy and we got to know each other better. Until I started to get sea sick, but that’s another story for another time where I don’t feel so lame about it. ;) Once we got to the island, Mandy and Dustin showed me around and I quickly fell in love. We zipped around cliff-side roads on a golf cart, visited the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden, and wandered past the adorable shops and restaurants in the heart of Avalon. It was a super fun day and I’m so glad I got to share it with Mandy and Dustin, who are completely awesome and fun. Believe me when I say I cannot wait for their wedding.
Mandy and Dustin, thank you so much for helping me finally feel like a true Southern Californian by taking me to Catalina. You guys are the best! Also, thanks for the tacos and beer. Those things made the day even better. ;) Here are a few of my favorites!
