A couple of weeks ago, Chris and I spent a few evenings together doing something we hadn’t done as a couple before: we made music together. We wrote and recorded a song that both of us are kinda proud of, but I’m not going to share it here because I sing on it and I am not what you would call a singer by any stretch of the imagination.
Chris, on the other hand, has a fantastic voice and his singing is actually the reason he and I met, but that is a story for another day. Anyway, our recording method is what most upstanding musicians would consider unconventional, to say the least. We didn’t use a microphone because Chris couldn’t find his (it has been years since he’s recorded anything). Luckily, we discovered that the built-in mic on my iMac worked just fine!
The funnest part was the instruments we got to use: An accordian, ukelele, acoustic guitar and a toy piano all made it into the song. It was really fun recording with my husband and I hope we do it again some day—I’ll probably just stick to playing guitar next time so that I’ll be brave enough to share the song here.
